Insult to injury: I have learned when Comcast's data cap actually ends.

[edit for clarification, because I knew I'd fuck the title up]: Each month, that is... the program isn't ending.

TL;DR at the bottom, but try to plow through this anyway. Why? Because fuck you, I put a lot of work into it.

Yesterday afternoon at somewhere between 3 and 4PM central time I got The Call™. Comcast told me I had exceeded my data cap for the month. Despite the fact that I didn't get the call at 90% like I've become accustomed, I kinda knew this was coming, as my adult son recently moved back in with us and he's been streaming Netflix quite a bit. And I wasn't OVERLY worried, as this was one of my 3 freebie months for exceeding data caps. My last one, in fact. So while everyone was out of the house last night, at about 7pm I said "Welp." And then I started downloading things I've been meaning to download, and streaming series I've put off to try to stay under the cap. (You can debate whether I should have to do that in the comments, I don't mind, but I've been trying to be a good little consumer.)

All told between 7pm and midnight, again Central time, I pulled down about 100 gigs. Speculate on what I downloaded all you want; again, I don't mind, but I'm not telling.

This morning, I looked in several places to see what the damage was. I noted that sometime between 1:30 and 4:30 this morning, I pulled down another 2.5 gigs or so, and my daughter streamed a gigabyte of video between 6 and 8 this morning (per Xbox). I expected to have Comcast tell me that I got about 400 gigs in October, and I was at about 3 for November.

The stats showed that I pulled 306GB in October, and I was at about 110 for November already.

What the blue fuck?

It's apparent to me that Comcast's data cap month ends on the GMT timezone for reasons that are absolutely beyond my comprehension.

I'll follow up with Comcast tomorrow and see about all this. I did my downloading in the month of October for all intents and purposes. I don't think i'd be upset if it was Eastern time, I'd have just said "Whoops, my bad, lol." I actually intended to call them and talk to them about removing my strikes anyway, but now I'm pretty sure I've got an even bigger right to be angry at them than I did before.

If they say no... I don't know. They're the only ones in town that let me use my own equipment, but I may bite the bullet and shift to UVerse...

...until Google comes to Nashville. I keep repeating to myself to be patient, It will all be over soon.

TLDR: Comcast's days expire on the GMT time zone, so if you're burning through downloads at the end of the month against your data cap, keep it in mind.
