TIFU by not using the safety thingy with the mandolin.

So this will be short and sweet. I was slicing up potatoes for hash browns for breakfast, and like an idiot wasn't using the gadget you're supposed to use to hold the veggies. The inevitable happened. Searing pain from the first knuckle of my right ring finger.

Once I got the bleeding to stop (quite some time later) I went back to clean up. Sitting atop the now browning julienned potatoes was my knuckle. A good dime sized, thick hunk, very recognizable with the knuckle wrinkles in it.

Safety first, kids.
