TIFU by trying an “as seen on tv” ear wax remover

I’m in my 30s, I was living in the Atlanta area, but I lived alone, hated my job, and struggled with the cost of living, so I made the difficult decision to move back home to a more rural part of Georgia. Which sucks. My mom is a realtor and I decided to try my hand at real estate and got my license. Well it’s been a huge adjustment going from structured jobs to being my own boss. I’m ADHD, and find it difficult to focus on things, and I’m addicted to video games. And that doesn’t help. Needless to say, I haven’t been the best real estate agent, but my business started to pick up I have 2 listings and a buyer I’m working with. I’ve been a lot more proactive and focused and today I got an offer for one my listings and my seller accepted!! Other than the tornados we had today, I’ve had a great day!

Then I went to visit my mom in her room, and while in her room I saw she had a weird gadget that she never used. It was an “as seen on tv”(should have been my first sign not to use it) The Doctor’s Ear Wax Cleaner. Interesting and scary what could possibly go wrong. I’m such a dumb ass, so Im trying the thing out and when I remove it i noticed to my horror that the tip was gone. Omg! Why the hell did I try the stupid thing out, I knew some stupid shit like this would happen! Of course the tip would break off in my ear. So, then I did the next smartest thing while freaking out, I tried to retrieve it but ended up pushing it further inside instead. Omg, now it’s starting to hurt, and I’m so embarrassed and pissed off at myself. I had to run downstairs to tell my mom what happened and she’s laughing at my situation while trying to ask if I’m ok(now I know where I get it from)she’s genuinely concerned, so she tries to look to see if she can see it, and no. She then suggested I try using tweezers to get it out myself. I ask her if she’s serious and I why the hell did she buy the terrible contraption in the first place! So here I am walking into the ER at 1am and here comes the fun part of having to explain my stupidity. In the sign in sheet where you explain the reason for visit, I wrote “embarrassment, ear wax thing broke in ear” the check in lady was like wait what? Then I showed her the device, which made both her and the cop sitting behind her laugh.

I hope that the sell goes through on my listing, bc I’m sure this visit is going to cost as much as the commission check.

TL/DR: Saw an “as seen on tv” doctors ear wax remover device and decided to try it out, tip broke in my ear and now I’m sitting in the ER waiting for a doctor to remove it.

Update: The P.A., Joey, was Avery friendly guy with a good sense of humor, and he let my mom use his ear canal viewing tool to take a peak in my ear to see the foreign object. Then as gently as he could he extracted the honeycomb, botfly looking, contraption from my ear. Ironically it was still white and didn’t appear to remove much ear wax. Joey, said I really didn’t have much ear wax and probably didn’t need to use the thing in the first place. Thanks for your help Joey!
