TIFU by keeping a box of curry in my backpack filled with electronic goodies

My first post here, so bear with me. This happened a couple of weeks ago.

Some background: One of the restaurants in my university has decided to go plastic free. No more straws, plastic covers and the works.

On to the story: I had ordered some delicious seafood curry which i could not wait to devour. I figured I'd savour the food in my room a lot more than on campus, so i requested it to be packed. They did warn me that they wouldn't be able to provide me with a plastic cover, but i shrugged and decided I'd gently place it in my bag instead.

The walk to my room is down a hill, and as i shuffled towards my room i couldn't help noticing that i could smell the curry quite distinctly. The only thought that crossed my mind was, damn, that's some good curry right there.

I reached the room, cleared the books off my table, and was all set to tuck in. I unzipped the bag, and i felt my heart plummet.

The to-go box was empty save for pieces of seafood. The university books i had borrowed and my notes were soggy. The laptop, with a little mercy from the universe, was in a laptop case, and hadn't been affected. The surface of the laptop case, on the other hand, oh my. My charging cables, my power bank, my calculator and my phone were all marinating.

After hours of cleanup and taking apart the gadgets i finally plopped down on the bed with a rumbling tummy. The electronics had seemed to cave in, but I was lucky, and they started working the very next day. I'd tended to the library books throughout the night, and went to the library after it dried offering to pay. Again, lucky me, they told me the damage wasn't that bad and it was manageable. What a relief.

Now every time i smell curry, i remember my sheer stupidity and walk away in shame.

TL;DR: I kept a box of curry in my backpack, it did what curries do in bags and toppled over, and it almost cost me a couple thousand dollars.
